From a Hobby to a Mission
It started in 2018 when our founder, Kamau Otieno, inherited his grandfather's Grundig radio. It hadn't worked in thirty years. After months of research, sourcing parts, and careful restoration, it crackled to life one evening, filling his Nairobi apartment with the warm sound of analog broadcast.
That moment sparked something. Kamau began scouring estate sales, old shops, and online listings across Kenya and beyond, finding vintage cameras, typewriters, and audio equipment. He restored each piece himself, learning the craft through patience and repetition.
Word spread. Friends wanted to buy his restorations. Friends of friends reached out. What began as a personal passion became Vintage Vibe, a curated catalog of authenticated, restored vintage items, each one ready for a new chapter in a new home.
Today, we operate from our workshop in Westlands, Nairobi, with a small team of dedicated restorers who share Kamau's belief: that old things deserve new life.
